Steve is an award winning Steam Punk creation looking out at the world of the 21st century. Built of heavy-gauge hammered copper mounted on a 2 inch square maple box frame, you will find elements from traffic signs, sewing machines, coffee pots, a pitch pipe, ball bearings, bicycles and ski bindings. Some parts I just don't remember where they came from.

This piece began its life intending to be a mask, but lost momentum and sat in the shop for several years resting. Sometimes ideas have to ferment before beginning fresh, with older eyes and newer thoughts.

 

In the last photos there appears to be a row of four lights, but this is just a reflection from the camera flash. These pieces of glass are from an old road sign and are designed to light up from oncoming headlights.
